Hi All -
We are running PI 7.1 and I'm seeing in the Master Guide that the Advanced Adapter Engine is a different software unit from the Adapter Engine. How do you determine which one you have installed on your PI 7.1 system?
Thanks for the help -
Abby

Advanced Adapter Engine comes default in PI 7.1. If you see integrated configuration object in the integration directory then you can do Advance Adapter Engine scenarios. That means you can bypass integration engine for message processing.
If your version 7.1 then Adapters supported for doing AAE is JDBC, FILE, SOAP, JMS
if your version is 7.1 EHP the you can do proxy also using AAE.
IDOC, HTTP and WSRM are the adapters not supported in AAE.
Also you cannot do CCBPM scenarios using AAE.

HI Abby,
I recommend you this link http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/70b8adc3-728c-2a10-7fad-d43f29074...
in order to know the new features about the AAE.
It's useful to have the AAE like the central Adapter Engine. If you have developed a new modules probably is useful to have a decentral adapter engine, compatible with the old versions, in order to put there your own developments but SAP recommends to do this only temporaly.

Dear Abby,
Putting things simple, as of PI 7.1 the Adapter Engine has been improved by SAP to become the Advanced AE. The improvement provided some new functionalities, including processing some scenarios entirely inside the AAE, without the use of Integration Engine. This help document gives some more details about message processing in AAE (focus on chapter 2, further chapters describe example scenario): http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-16242
Hope this helps,
Greg

in PI7.1, adapter engine is replaced by advanced adapter engine(AAE). so select AAE for completing the installation.

Hi Abby,
You no need to select any additional option to use AAE in PI 7.1, juts complete your instalation standard way,but while developing AAE scenario you have to created Integrated configuratio in ID.
