Backup failure from SAP after oracle upgrade

Former Member

Hi All,

We have upgraded oracle from 11.2.0.1.0 to 11.2.0.3.0 on windows 2008 R2 VM(64 bit). We are able to take backup successfully through BRtools at OS level but when we are trying through DB13 we are getting error as mentioned below.

BR0274E File 'L:\ORACLE\SOC\SAPDATA4\SYSTEM_1\SYSTEM.DATA1' not found

BR0274W File 'K:\ORACLE\SOC\SAPDATA3\TEMP_12\TEMP.DATA12' not found

BR0314E Collection of information on database files failed

Our BRtool verison is 18 so I think SAP note 1625038 doesn't address our problem.

We have placed the utl file in the new oracle home and also did some other required changes.

Kindly suggest how we can resolve this problem.

Regards,

Mridul

Hi Sunil,

We haven't did any modification in utl file, just placed that in new oracle home and modified the location of utl parameter file in initsid.sap.

Venkata,

DBcheck is ending with warning. Below are some extracts:

Hi,

>BR0970W Database administration alert - level: ERROR, type: DATA_FILE_MISSING, object: >L:\ORACLE\SID\SAPDATA4\SYSTEM_1\SYSTEM.DATA1

According to above error, check if the datafile exists or not. let me know the result.

As you mentioned you are able to take backup from OS level and issue only while scheduling backup from DB13. This confirms there is no issue with brtools.

>>We have placed the utl file in the new oracle home and also did some other required changes.

Can you please mentioned the location of utl file and what changes you performed?

@Venkata, he is on Windows not UNIX.

H Sunil,

Thanks for correcting me. I was under impression that it is UNIX.

@ Mridul,

Can you please run dbcheck from DB13 and provide the log.

Hi,

Check existing permissions on BR* if it's not the same as shown in below (look for the sticky bit):

Here by setting up the sticky bits resolve the issue:

-rwsrwxr-x 1 orasid dba 5608993 MAY 24 2009 brbackup
-rwsrwxr-x 1 orasid dba 5756665 MAY 24 2009 brconnect
-rwsrwxr-x 1 orasid dba 6074098 MAY 24 2009 brarchive
-rwsrwxr-x 1 orasid dba 2365481 MAY 22 2009 brtools

check Notes: 113747, 12741

Check this as well Note 134592 - Importing the SAPDBA role (sapdba_role.sql)
