HU - Difference between WM and EWM

Dear Experts,

What are the differences between EWM and WM as far as Handling Unit is concerned? My question is specifif to HUs only

Can you please share some thoughts on this topic?

Hello shetty,

There is a rather big difference between HU in WM vs the ones in EWM. The ones in WM are not so used as the ones in EWM for example, in EWM you have the Process Oriented Storage Control which is at HU level and so cannot function without packed items. Also in EWM there are such things as Transport Units that are mainly the HU of the Tranportation Managemnt relevant for SCM.

There are a lot of things to say aboout these differences but the main one is that where in WM the HU are rather optional, in EWM are mandatory to say the least.
