SAP installation recommendations for AIX HACMP

Former Member

Hello BASIS guys,

We are planning to install our Quality ECC system on AIX HACMP. I have gone through the installation guide but it does not talk much about the High Availability installation where as for windows you have detailed documentation for each and every specific step.

I am planning to setup the HA as active-active by distributing ASCS & CI on Node A and Database & DI on Node B. Based on the assumptions I have prepared the list of mount points on both the nodes. However, I would like to get the directories/mount points layout if any one has implemented HA in your environment.

Please provide me your recommendations for splitting the services and for creating the mount points.

Thanks in Advance,

Pradeep

Hi,

You are right. There are no detail guidelines about HA installation in case of unix system however in case of window system SAP provides detailed information.

In case of AIX, scenario that you are trying to implement is correct.

I am assuming that you are installing oracle on AIX. Please make sure of below points:

1) Install Oracle software and client locally on both the nodes.

2) Install DI and CI locally.

3) ASCS and DB will be installed on moveable media.

Accordingly you can plan your file systems.

Thanks

Sunny

Hi Pradeep,

This can only be answered by the IBM-HACMP-experts unfortunately. SAP is
not providing support statements regarding support of high-availability-
scenario versions of vendors, only for the OS. Therefore I suggest to
contact the consultant at your side who is the contact person for HACMP
from OS-vendor side.

Since SAP code has no dependency to HACMP it should be fine for you
to upgrade to the new Version. Nevertheless we do not deal
with HACMP questions here in our AIX Team ( BC-OP-AIX ). Therefore
you should ask IBM Service ( e.g. through a PMR ) for their
statement.
