Ora:-01555 snapshot too old

Hello Guys,

We are getting ora:01555 snapshot too old error while running some reports.

The error was for table Ce41000.

The tablespace PSAPUNDO has segment space management set to manual.

Should i change the SSM ?

What all changes should i make.

Please advice how to proceed.

What are your current settings for undo retention in your init<sid>.ora? whats your oracle version?

ora-01555 usually happen when you undo retention is too short.

Hi Juan,

My Current release of oracle is 11g with N-1 bundle patch installed.

In my initPEP.ora i have only one parameter  that is undo_tablespace=PSAPUNDO.

I cant find any parameter undo retention.

Please advice how to proceed.

undo_retention is set by default in 11g to 900, but for  recommendation for AUM (Automatic Undo Management) recommended 43200 seconds....

SAP Note 1431798 - Oracle 11.2.0: Database Parameter Settings points to SAP Note 600141 - Oracle9i: Automatic UNDO Management which is an old note but recommends to set undo_retention to 43200 seconds.

You'll need to restart the DB after adding the parameter.
