SAP recommmends that production planning run should run with "Infinite scheduling". Idea is detailed scheduling which fois llows production planning does finite schedluing for the resources for which finite scheduling is needed.
This means, we need to schedule production planning background job with a heuristic that has strategy profile setting "Infinite scheduling".
Now, my question is, should we have a separate background job for detailed scheduling that will follow production planning background job or should detailed scheduling be a step in production planning background job?
What is the recommended practice?
Thanks,
Srini
Hi Srini,
As such there is no difference detail scheduling as next step post production planning or seperate job for detailed scheduling.
I have worked on projects with both approches.

Srini,
SAP001 (Schedule Sequence) is the most commonly used but you should try and see first whether it meets your requirements.
This Heuristic is mainly used for planning a Bottleneck resource, so you should specify the Bottleneck resource as Planning Object.
Depending upon your needs -- you might have to use PPDS optimiser after this step.
