The Web Dynpro Adventure

Hi All,

reading through this forum, I get the impression that setting up JCo destinations is the one of the greatest challenges for Web Dynpro developers!

I guess the problem arises because most Web Dynpro developers are inexperienced with system administration and do not have a SAP administrator at hand. Thus, the Web Dynpro adventure stops before it has even started ...

My main problem is that I have not seen any example/tutorial that describes how to set up a JCo destination from scratch – including J2EE and backend configuration. For instance, I find the 122 pages SLD document provided by SAP very good, but it is too abstract for me. I would be very grateful if some GURU could provide a step-by-step concrete example (perhaps in a Weblog ) of how to configure a JCo destination. I am not looking for a document that covers all systems and possible configurations – just one example that works.

Am I the only one having JCo destinations/SLD configuration problems?

If that is the case, then just ignore this post.

Thank you.

Hi Shubhadip,

thanks for the reply. I think both of the following guides are good:

https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/documents/a1-8-4/how to use the web dynpro content administrator.pdf

https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/documents/a1-8-4/how to configure the jco destination settings.pdf

Nevertheless, I'm searching for concrete examples/tutorials that describes ALL steps in setting up JCo destinations (including R/3 system and J2EE engine). Basically, I'm looking for a detailed check list ...

Best regards,

Elvez
