Hello

Is there any option to use CCPM methodology created by Mr. Goldratt in SAP PS?

What about transfer network form CPM methodology to CCPM in PS?

Any one use it?

Hi,

I am not sure of using to an extent in PS and never come across such kind of requirements in my experience.

Let others speak their experiences.

Sudhakar

Hello Sudhakar

Thank you for your answer. CCPM methodology is very young, maybe since 1997 as I remember, so not every one hear about it But some customers would like to use it.

I think I have an idea about it. Probably I will write some blog post about it.

Here is a link to general idea about CCPM

I dont think Networks in SAP PS supports CCPM methodology. I have not yet heard of any market leading scheduling tools available (P6V7, MSP) has this functionality.

It would be really nice to know if someone has really used it in SAP PS through some plugin or enhancement.

Hi,

we have realized in 2013 the CCPM basic features based on SAP PS, SAP Progress Tracking and our ABAP WebDynpro Add Ons. After intensive discussions with CCPM specialists and our customers, we designed our first version with a static determination of the critical path. This could be enhanced to a dynamic determination via capacity load and status information of the relevant Network activities. The degree of processing and grade of the buffer consumption will be processed within one buffer activity.

Features:

  • CCPM evaluations based on the degree of processing and grade of the buffer consumption within
    projects and across projects
  • Enrichment of the CCPM methodology through capacity evaluations and a dynamic determination of the bottleneck
  • CFD evaluations with Progress Tracking events
  • Automatic data retrieval for degrees of processing, buffer times and events
  • Enrichment of the CCPM methodology through capacity, cost and revenue information
  • Use of SAP®- Web Dynpro Abap and SAP®-Business Graphics
  • Flexible adaptation (eg additional fields) of the evaluations and graphs by the user

That's great idea Steffen. Thank you for your replay. I see that it is some kind of cockpit. As I understand you can select which projects you would like to see here?

Hi Adam,

we use selection variants, you can apply single values, ranges or dynamic parameters (i.e.all critical projects defined via buffer consumption ..) based on the PS masterdata.

Steffen,

You said that you use PS master data, what SAP PS object is a buffer?

Adam,

we use for the buffer one (or more) network activity at the end of the network with the buffer duration.

Hi Steffen

We have this requirement in our project. Iam trying to understand how this can be implemented using Network activities.

How can we get the aggressive timeline and  buffer timeline in the activity?

The way i understand you, we need to create 2 activities for each activity task - one for aggressive time and one for the buffer.

How do you maintain the relationships for these buffer activities?

Hi Anjaneya,

to realize the aggressive timeline and  buffer timeline we use basic dates and forecast dates. You need no further activities, only for the buffer we use one additional activitiy. The buffer activitiy will be followed by one activity with a constraint date. We use Start/ End relationships.

Thank you Steffen for the reply.

Can you please provide some insights of how the basic dates and forecast dates canbe used to realise the timelines as in CCPM.

Assuming that we write a code to calculate the % Completion & % Buffer utilisation, how would we get the scatter plot in ECC?
