DB14 logs not showing

Former Member

  Dear experts:

Until yesterday, we were able to see brbackup, brarchive, brconnect brspace  logs from db14 for last months. But today morning , we can view only today's log.

Actually, yesterday evening , we implemented some Bckgd jobs(all are SAP standard jobs). Please let me know, Is any B'kgd job is responsible for these logs deletion... I don't find any such type of job

Dear All,

we need to exclude command brconnect -f cleanup

That is the crux of problem...

Dear Bhuban,

Above mentioned SAP note suggest to apply support package, i don't think so

See, logs vanished suddenly, We are able to see them from OS level, but SAP level no logs.

As I wrote already, a day ago we applied all SAP standard B'ckgd jobs, since following day it is happening...

Anyhow, we are analyzing, Please be in touch

I'll update output soon

Any suggestions from you end is welcome

Hi,

If your SAP CI & DB instance are on different host & if you do not maintain sapxpg rfc destination then you cant see the BRBACKUP or BRARCHIVE logs from DB12 or DB14

Note 108777 - CCMS: Message 'SAPXPG failed for BRTOOLS'

Note 980266 - RFC destination SAPXPG_DBDEST_<DB-HOST> does not work

Check your SAPXPG destination & correct it.

Hi venkata,

we read SAP Note# 980266. :

1. We don't have stanalone gateway on db host. Is it necessary???

2. previously in RFC's, we hadn't configured Gateway host;Gateway service. after passing appropriate vakue in both option, please find log detail:

SAPXPG_DBDEST_<physical db host name>

Activation Type-> start on explicit type

Program:sapxpg

Target Host: <physical db host name>  [ Please check target host is correct or not, I think CI host name should come here]

save as: IP address of physical db host

Start Type of external program:Deafult Gateway value

CPI_C Timeout-> Default Gateway value

Gateway host:<physical db host name>

Gateway service: sapgw<instance number>

Hi,

Have you given the entries such as Gateway host and Gateway port in your RFC (TCP/IP ) Connection.

Import the most recent sapxpg version

Dear Venkata,

Thanks a lot.

we have configured RFC successfully.

SAPXPG_DBDEST_<physical db host name>

Previous:  Activation Type-> start on explicit type

Correction: Activation Type-> start on application server

Previous:  Gateway host: <physical db host name>(as per sap note 980266,under 'solution' tab point 2)

Correction: Gateway host: <host name of productionserver>

SAPXPG_DBDEST_<virtual db host name>

Previous:  Activation Type-> start on explicit type

Correction: Activation Type-> start on application server

Previous:  Gateway host: <virtual db host name> (as per sap note 980266,under 'solution' tab point 2)

Correction: Gateway host:  <host name of production server>

Points which need to be adressed:

  1. sap note 980266 suggest put 'gateway host' as db host name, but it didn't work.
  2. If we put 'Deafult Gateway value'  for Start Type of external program & CPI_C Timeout. then why we have to set value under gateway host & service

My actual query is "DB14 logs not showing"
