Security authorisation varification when manually entering serial numbers.

Dear SAP Guru's,

Their is a requirement for a level of authorisation, when manually entering serial number of an item. Can this be facilitated?.. how can we make this happen??...

This is when manually entering serial no.'s. the issue currently face is that we don't have a track on who enters the serial no.s. so for that we want to create a security level when the serial no. is entered. or is their any other options that can be carried out?...

Hi ,

You can provide the authorization for maintaining the Serial numbers for the respective users using Authorization objects in BASIS.

Apart from that there are transactions where the Serial number log/ History can be viewed.

SERI Serial Numbers
EQBS Serial Number Stock Segment
EQSE Serial Number Records

It is better to control the Serial numbers through Basis Authorization.

You can go through some transactions with Serial number log and history.

If it suits your Business requirement then you can use it for your Serial number tracking.

Is your requirement to control the manual entry of serial numbers for line items and want to process it automatically or you want to restrict the authorization to create the Serial numbers settings in IQ01 transaction?

  please, can you explain in more detail on which kind of document you would like to add the authorization check on the serial number? Is that a delivery document?
