EBP 3.5 to SRM 5.0 upgrade

Former Member

Hi,

We have EBP 3.5 (SRM2.0), and we are in the middle of R/3 4.7 to ECC 6.0 upgrade.

We are looking at various options at EBP level.

As per the documentation of ECC 6.0, we can have SRM as add-on on ECC 6.0.

Does this mean , ECC 6.0 is going to have SRM functionality with this SRM add-on?

At what point of time do we need to choose SRM as add-on (during ECC6.0 upgrade or after ugrade)?

If SRM functionality available in ECC 6.0, we will not do EBP upgrade seperately.

Thanks in advance

Regards

Srinivas.

Hi ,

Within SAP ERP 2005, SAP SRM can be deployed in the following ways:

1) SAP SRM Server as an add-on to SAP ECC Server (product instance SAP ERP 2005 – SAP ECC) to run SRM in one client of the ERP system. This deployment option is new as of SAP ERP 2005.

2) Installation of SAP SRM Server as a separate component to SAP ECC Server.

But the following are the deployment and migration constraints

1) SRM as an add-on to mySAP ERP 2005 does not support hub deployment.

2) SAP ERP 2005 with SRM as an add-on does not support any multiple backend functions for procurement.

3)It is not possible to upgrade or migrate from a separately-installed SRM system to SAP ERP 2005 with SRM as an add-on.

Mani,

Thanks for your help. Basically our client utilizing few features at SRM (EBP) level.

Currently we are on EBP 3.5(SRM 2.0) and use the following functionaries

• Shopping Carts

• Shop on Behalf

• Free Text

• Catalog ordering – Supplier Managed

• Shopping Cart Approval

• Monitoring

• Check Order status

• Desktop Receiving

We are in the process of upgrading our ERP (SAP 4.7.2) system to ECC 6.0(mySAP ERP 2005) and realized that ECC 6.0 is also offers full-blown functionalities of SRM, hence we are thinking of implementation of SRM functionalities through SRM add-on available in ECC 6.0.

Before we proceed further we would like to understand what can and can’t be achieved through SRM add-on on ECC 6.0 compared to upgrading the SRM solution to SRM 5.0 from SRM 2.0.

It would great if you can share document/comparisons/limitations between SRM add-on on ECC 6.0 vs SAP SRM 5.5 server

BTW, what are differences between SAP SRM server 5.5 vs SAP SRM server 5.5 Plus

Hi Mani,

Please see link for details

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/index_srmaddon.htm

Please see SAP note Note 975861 - Add. Info.: Upgrade to SAP SRM Server 6.0 ABAP

Current release is SRM server 5.5 and I think SRM 5.5 plus means higher release like SRM 6.0 which is due for release this year 1 st half.

please reward if it helps

Hi ,

This has to be looked at 3 angles.

1) Functionalities: I feel except Strategic sourcing , we have all others in SRM add on in ECC. Later on if the client want to go for Live auction and other fucnitonaliites in the sourcing angle , this won;t be possible in SRM add on in ECC.

2) Technical angle : 1) Since u want to migrate from EBP 3.5 , this won't possible in SRM as on add on . 2) incase u want to use add on , u need to have separate client for SRM .

3) Licensing angle : I don't know really this will be the issue... i think if u use add on also , u need to pay licensing fee..

Regarding SAP SRM server 5.5 and 5.5 plus. Probably this may mean to next releases, which are lined up by SAP.

Hi Srinivas,

Actually SRM_PLUS is of ABAP stuff ... There are 2 options

1) In case we are installing SRM 5.0(srm server 5.5) and ERP 2005 in one system , one should not install SRM_PLUS at all.

2) In case SRM and ERP 2005 installed separately on 2 diff systems(SIDs) , then one should install SRM_PLUS on the SRM system
