Hi,

Whereever you go in SAP , <b>Item category</b> follows.

Item category is one of the most important key field in SAP SD sales cycle.

It controls the sales document, affects the delivery and finally the billing process.

Item category is determined by the document type , item category group from material master , higher level item category and the item usage.

We can define the item category in VOV7 and determine at VOV4.

Adding to the above, it controls the delivery i.e., scheduline category, pricing.

Hi hemanth,

Item categories controls the sales documents and affects the scheduleline category. The item category of the sales order affects the delivery and finally impacts the billing process as well. The way of processing the items in the sales doucment controlled by the item categories. Each and every item has its own related information.

Hi,

Its the most imp control for an item which contrls the behaviour of an item in order deliver and billing.

An item category talks about

how the pricing should take place

Whether schedule lines allowed or not

Whether its relevant for delivery or not

Credit management is active or not for that item

Incase BOM, the explosion levels

Text and partner determination Procedure

Contrls creation of automatic Purch. Order

Billing relevance
