Hi All,
Its worthwhile working on the transportation planning and vehicle scheduling scenarios, however when it comes to optimization and time-dependent occurences...i'm at a loss for working processess.
It would be great if any one could give me a real scenario to work on.(A complete scenario from beginning till end)
Thanks in Advance.

Hi Callistus,
You execute transportation planning in TP/VS. Here you assign the orders and deliveries to vehicle resources. System takes this assignmenst and plans shipments, taking capacity constaints (like vehicle capacity) and time deadlines.
There can be several scenarios in industries, say 100 tons are to be despatched from origin point A to destination point B over a week and 100 tons are required on certain specific days of the week. If vehicle capacity is 10 tons and there is a penalty associated for early and late delivery at destination point B, then one has to schedule vehicles so that cost is minimized (minimization of transportation cost, early and delay costs). Transportation costs can be due to utilization of vehicles. Early costs can be due to warehouse costs as one has to incur warehouse costs if a product reaches early at the destination. Example of late delivery can be of perishable product, where late delivery cost can be huge (say eatables to be transported from point A to point B).
Hope this is helpful.
