Hi.
iam confused between the above two terms. These are mentioned in help file, while defining calendars. Both the customer specific and cust independent mention the word factory calendar.
in one case the calendar is assigned to customer master and in another the calendar is assigned to plant or shipping.
what is the diffeerence. Is it that the customer calendar takes care of holidays/sat/sun for the customer and the customer independent calendar takes care of the holidays/sat/sun at the vendor. and i think the word facotry calendar is used in both customer specific and custome rindependent calendar.
moreover i suppose the confiremd delivery dates in sales order or material availibility dat in sales order is determined using the above two calendars since the above two calendars takes care of hoildays/sat/sun at both cust and at vendors end.

HI,
to add gauravjit's reply-
Customer specific calendar is used for schedule of billing dates, to generate invoice list.
If, for example, a customer wants to consolidate the invoices you send
out, you can predefine the billing schedule in a calendar in the system.
During billing, the system automatically proposes the appropriate
billing date from the calendar.
Procedure
The system proposes the billing schedule from the customer master record
of the payer. You can change the value manually in the sales document.
You must first define a calendar for the customer either in
Customizing for Sales or as part of the master data for Sales (Menu
path: Logistics -> Sales & distribution -> Master data -> Others ->
Billing schedules).-
Customer independent calendar is factory calendar assigned to plant.
reward the points if useful.

Hello Sachin,
The calendar is attached to a customer generally for the billing purpose whereas the calendar attached to the plant and the shipping point is for the delivery scheduling.
