CRTSHDINST: Failed to create instance -

We are running the prepare to upgrade from WebAS 6.20 NW04 using the Scroll Method on the Iseries.

We completed the upgrades in our development and Test systems without

this issue using the same CD's and patches -

CD51030789 & WEBAS640SR1-28-20000730.SAR.

We are at the phase = START OF PHASE SHDINST_OS

Error message CPF0006 running 'CRTSHDINST SID(PM3) INST(09)'

R3up message

Looking at the joblog we are getting the following error

Current library changed to

R3PM3DATA.

Checking input

parameters...

RtvInstCfg: Error checking consistency of

profile

"/usr/sap/trans/config/PM3/plm_02.CFG". Retrieved instance host

plmprod

does not match supplied instance host

plm

CrtR3Inst: Instance configuration of system PM3 is

inconsistent.

CRTSHDINST: Failed to create instance 09 for system

PM3.

Errors occurred in command.

Can you tell us where would the supplied instance host instance plm be

configured? PLM is the hostname of our development and Test systems.

plmprod is the correct host name of the production system that we are

trying to run the prepare.

We delete the CTS system and recreated

We reset the prepare and tried again but received the same error

SAPSYSTEMNAME = PM3

INSTANCE_HOST = plmprod

SAPSYSTEM = 02

INSTANCE_ROLE = DVEBMGS

db4/kernel = R3640AOPT

SYSTEM.CFG has the following

SAPSYSTEMNAME = PM3

SAPDBHOST = plmprod

SAPMSHOST = plmprod

db4/kernel = R3640AOPT

db4/dbasp = 1

db4/jrnrcvasp = 1

Brian,

the name of the configuration file is used for checking the consistency: plm_02.cfg does not match the entry INSTHOST=plmprod.

As all occurances are plmprod I suppose you renamed your server once from plm to plmprod, even converted the file's content but forgot to rename it.

So, Volker was right.

HTH,

Thomas

Hi Brian,

please have a look into the directory /usr/sap/trans/config/SID and let us all know the contents of the 2 files in there )

Please let us know the display of cfgtcp option 12 as well )

dspdtaara r3sid400/r3_nn ?

Then I'm hopeful, it doesn't match ...
