Import Manager - Default Value mapping?

I have a Hierarchy Table.

The Hierarchy Table has two fields.

Name - Display Field (Type Text)

Category Level - Lookup field (Flat)(Text)

The two possible values of Category Level are <b>Supply Category</b> and <b>Sub Category</b>

When I am importing to this hirearchy table, I am field mapping only the Name field.

Once I import the data via Import Manager, I am seeing data in the Data Manager for all records for the Category Level field also.

It defaults to the first value Supply Category.

I have not mapped in the Import Manager. Where is the data coming from?

I tried creating the new record in the Record Mode of Data Manager. I am always seeing the default value.

This happens only for this field.

I upgraded to SP4 Patch 3, just to check this.

Any thoughts on this?

Hi Adhappan,

I noticed a similar behaviour some months ago (I think it was somewhere arround SP4 Patch 0). I reported it as a bug which was solved later on. In my case the look up field was directly in the main table. Maybe it's somehow different if the look up field is in a hierarchy.

I'd suggest to raise a bug ticket on this one since the value of this field should not be set to a default. It should remain blank unless you set a value in DM or import a value in IM.

Hi Adhappan,

I am using build version 5.5.35.16

I don't see any problem with the above build version.

I have a a Main Table which has 2 fields

1. Name 2. Hierarchy Lookup field.

I have a Hierarchy table which has 2 fields

1. Name - Text-DF 2. Level - Lookup(flat)

When I import data to Hierarchy table , It perfectly updates the Hierarchy table.

I am also in the same version.

I upgraded to the SP4 Patch 3. This behaviour is strange.

The lookup table first value is always defaulted, whether I use Data Manager or import via Import Manager.

I even tried not mapping any thing to this field while importing. Still it defaults to the first value.

I will check on the OSS and keep you posted.
