What are the ATP checks need to observe in Production order

Hi Gurus

We have BOM configured materials, when sales order saved, system creates planned order automatically, When planned order converted to production order in MD04, missing parts are showing in production order,Let me know, What are the ATP checks basically we have to observe in Production order level as well as in Planned order apart checking rule PP and subcomponents availability

and once the Production order has been released what are the changes system passes to Sales order, Can any one please help me out.
