Error The SAPinst GUI

Hi,

I downloaded the trail version of SAPNW2004s trying to run the SAPinst.exe file

i am getting the fallowing error.

The SAPinst GUI could not be started because a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) could not be found.

any body please give me some solution to this prob. thanks in advance.

Hi Kiran,

try setting "SAPINST_JRE_HOME" environment variable.

it should be same as JAVA_HOME.

and make sure that all the services are up and running. (like server, & DB).

You should install Java Runtime Environment (JRE) first. You can download from http://java.sun.com.

After installing JRE, you have to set JAVA_HOME=C:\directory\where\java\is\installed.

You can do it by right click on My Computer - Properties. Choose Advanced Tab - Environment Vaiables.

On System variables, click New

After that fill Variable Name with JAVA_HOME and fill Variable value =C:\directory\where\java\is\installed

And then you can start SAPinst GUI again. Hope that can help you.

Hello kiran,

You need to install the JRE (java runtime env) for the display of the sapinst GUI, so download the OS specific JRE from the hardware vendor website and install it.

this will solve your problem.

do revert if you need any more info.

The SAPinst requires a SUN Java Plugin with a Java 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (JRE) version 1.4.1 or higher. The current version of the JRE including the plugin can be downloaded from the following location :

http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/

Specific JRE versions can be found in the archives:

http://java.sun.com/products/archive/
