I want to transfer the data from weighing scale in to SAP QM module;

(each of the individual reading made by weighing scale)

For further analysis of data ;

Kindly elobrate the software & harware requirement.

Kindly share with personal experiances.

Be aware that SAP xMII does not connect directly to level 0 devices (ie, the weigh scale). If there is all ready an OPC type software that "talks" with the scale, you can use xMII to talk with that software. Otherwise, you are probably out of luck.

Dear Ryan,

would be grateful if you can share your experiences in integrating weighing scales / implementation of xMII / necessary hardware & software upgrade

Hi Ramana,

Connecting to a Weighing scale with an OPC server is very much possible. As to how you can do this, refer to the manual of your weighing scale. The remaining part, as to how to connect your OPC server with xMII, this whitepaper will give you step by step instructions !!!

Here are some answers to your queries :

a) Nopes, I work for SAP and have not integrated xMII with Essae Teroka weighing scales and its software but i have good reasons to believe that it is possible.

b) Refer to answer a) above.

c), d), e) & f) All answers regarding to the capabilities of xMII can be found here :

You might want to look into the Kepware U-CON OPC server - you can quickly model any serial protocol (such as the one that your scale uses) and expose this data to xMII via OPC.

Hi Ramana,

In your question i need to know one thing from you. Did you integrate the weighing scale with the SAP QM already or you are asking for that also.

Anyway i am assuming that there is no handshake between the hard ware and SAP system till now.

Scope 1 : To tarnsfer the data from the weighing scale to SAP QM, you can use the SAP-xMII whenever you have the connectivity from SAP-xMII to Weighing scale. For that youe need to see all the xMII shop floor connectors with this. In this context i dont know the exact hard ware reuirement

Scope 2 : Analysing the data : In this case you can get the history data from the SAP QM module into the xMII and also the current value from the Weighing scale, then you can have so many visualizations available in the xMII.(like Chart, Grid, SPC/SQC and SVG). Even you can create the alert ranges for your weights for upper and lower scales like wise

Thanks,
