Where should BI JAVA be installed (BI or Portal server)?

We are not 100% sure how we should go about installing BI 7.0.

We have already ECC6.0, Portal 7.0 installed.

We now wanto to install Bi 7.0 and we are unclear about what should be the selection options in SAPINST. Unfortunately installation documentation does not provide any information on that.

The options we have are:

AS ABAP

AS JAVA

BI JAVA

EP

And others option not relevant to my installation.

It seems to me that I should install BI 7.0 in the following way:

- on BI box install Central Instance (AS Java+AS Java)

- on existing Portal Box install additional usage type BI Java using JSPM (BI Java only)

Can somebody confirm that this is a right way of doing it.

If this is OK I have another question. My portal is already patched to SP10. After the install the BI components will be on SP6. I guess I just download the letest patches after the install and apply them. Does it sound reasonable?

Hi Robert

If you want to install BI Java you need Both AS-Java and EP installed.

If you have AS-ABAP installed then BI Comes in built in it.

Coming to your last point yes you need to patch your BI by downloading the respective SP patches from Service Market Place.

Note :If you have abap system having BI then before patching BI you should patch XI/PI and then BI

If you have any doubt feel free to ask.
