Hi Tony,

Open the Developer Studio and go to the menu:

'Window'->'Preferences'->'SAP J2EE Engine'. There you configure your connection to the application server.

The relevant ports can be found under:

http://<servername>:5<instance_nr>00/monitoring/SystemInfo

Instance number is usually 01 or 00.

After you've made the settings, you can open the 'J2EE Engine' view and watch the status of the application server.

Kind regards,

Klaus

Hi Tony,

You could try to select "SAP J2EE engine is installed on remote host" and enter "localhost" as "Message Server Host" and the "Message Server Port". You can figure out the port at the url I mentioned earlier in this thread.

Hope this helps.

What does your SAP Management Console says?

Open your SAP MMC (a link should be located on the desktop) and open the tree node 'J2EE Process Table'.

Has the SDM a green light?

If not, the SDM is not running. You can start it either by

<INSTALL_DRIVE>:usrsapJ2EJC01SDMprogramStartServer.bat

or by stop and start the complete application server.

Hi Toni,

There is no SDM in Java EE5 edition. Only in NW2004/NW2004s releases. Nevertheless, you can deploy with the developer studio. Additionally, there is something like the deploy view. You can use this standalone (without developer studio). I'm not sure where exactly to find this, just browse through the folders in the file system where your application server is installed.

Kind regards,

Hi Tony,

If someone should help you, you need to tell us what exactly you want to do?

Ok, you want ot connect to SAP. But what kind of connection.

Do you want to see the application server in your browser?

Do you want to deploy a Java application?

Do you want to connect via JMS, Web Service, Jco, RFC, ...?

Username, password and ports are usually written in the documentation you received with the JavaEE5 download.

Kind regards,

Klaus

Hi Tony,

From the documentation:

<b>Authentication</b>

Please make sure that you thoroughly memorize the master password that you enter during the installation. You will have to use it whenever you are asked for authentication by either the SAP NetWeaver Application Server or the MaxDB database. The default usernames and passwords directly after the installation are as follows:

SAP NetWeaver Application Server (e.g. for deploying applications)

username: Administrator

password: <your master password>

MaxDB Database Manager operator login (e.g. when you click on the database icon in the SAP Management Console)

username: control

password: <your master password>

MaxDB database user (e.g. for logging on to the MaxDB SQL Studio)

username: superdba

password: <your master password>

Starting and stopping the server from the SAP Management Console

username: Windows username !

password: Windows password !

Administration of the ICM (e.g. when you click on the globe icon in the SAP Management Console)

username: Administrator

password: abc123

To test whether the SAP NetWeaver Application Server has been started alright, open any Internet browser and go to the address http://localhost:50000. If your server was installed to with a non-default instance number x, you will have to add x*100 to the port number 50000. For example, the address changes to "http://localhost:50300" for instance number 3.

Once you see the application server in the browser, you can get more info about ports, etc. under 'System Information' and 'SAP NetWeaver Administrator'.

Kind regards,

Klaus

Hi Tony,

Browse through your file system and you will find:

<Install Dir>\<System ID>\JC<b><Instance Number></b>\j2ee\cluster...
