Hi All,
I was asked this question in an interview:
1) If the company is spread out geographyically than what is the SLD structure that you would recommend? Seperate SLD for each continent or a single SLD for all
Any comments!!!
2) If value mapping table keeps updating like new entries being added now and then, then would you allow the business person to log into ID and add entries their, if not then how else can it be done??
Regards,
Ashish
Ashish,
For Value Mapping go into the E Learning section and check out the SDN TV demo for the same. Quite interesting,

Hi Ashish,
Solution for ur second Question:
Use Value Mapping Replication.
Design a scenario using Value mapping Replication interface in XI.
You can then design a simple html page or a jsp page where the business person can add new values at ease. XI doesnot come to his perspective at all.

1) SAP recommends single SLD most of the times.
2) In real time scenarios, no business person will log into ID and enter the value mappings. It will done by some maintanence/support guy. So, the business person will be talking to this guy for the updating the table. Or else if business person has to do it, as Bala said, store the value mappings in database and give sql access to insert into that database.

Ashish,
There can be a master SLD, with multiple slave SLD's and you can configure Data Supplier Bridge to update the changes in one SLD to another.
This will allow for failover pouints as well, as if one SLD goes down you have another SLD coming into the picture as the failover point.

Dear Ashish,
1)Maintaining one SLD is good to my knowledge and it all depends upon the Business Scenerio
2) Yes, There will be support team is it, The Business person can mail to them to add the entries, This what we are doing in our present Scenerio.

Hi,
If it could be good if you have single SLD.the names itself it says central repository.so It coluld be better if you have single SLD and that can be accessable from any where.
<b> Can you please exaplin your second doubt bit clear.</b> 2)If you want to allow a business person to enter in to the values into value mapping then you can allow and if you do not want to allow implement value mapping relication.this solve your problem.
Thanks and Regards,
Sekhar.
