Hi everyone,
We have an existing SAP NetWeaver '04s environment running on MaxDB 7.6 / Windows 2003 RC2 (all 64bit). The system has been running fine, however we have now been asked to ensure that its part of a MS cluster.
Our site is 24x7, and have a few questions:
1. Can we add an existing environment to MSCS without having to reinstall it?
2. What would be the best installation/implementation process ensuring that downtime is kept to a minimum (if at all)
Cheers
Shaun
what configuration?
ABAP Server only
JAVA Server only
or combined.
regards
Peter

Hi Shaun:
The process to move the Instances to a MSCS is pretty complex, I will suggest to get assistance from SAP or either a consulting partner.
In short, the move depends on different factors, like:
- There are additional hardware resources to move the instance into the cluster?
- What is the allowed maximum permitted downtime?
The best but more time consuming is to install a fresh instance and move the database to it, by means of an H.S.C. or a Database restore.
Hope this helps!
Best Regards,
Federico
