Hi,
Are there any guidelines about custom ABAP development on XI ABAP stack. Is it advisable to have custom RFCs / ABAP dictionary on the same client where integration engine is? Would appreciate precise pointers to guidelines / pros & cons...
Regards,
Amol
Hi Amol,

You only need to develop in some cases ABAP mappings.

Each client of WAS has as well control to all RFCs, to all dictionary objects and has its own integration engine, he, he. But only one client in the LANDSCAPE has a integration engine configured as "Integration Server". If you have a WAS with only one client as IS, then usually you need any custom objects at ABAP stack (except special mappings).

Hi Udo,
Thanks for your reply. Let me reframe the question. We need to develop a custom report and some Function modules for error tracking and monitoring purpose.
Those development are not performance heavy.
We have just one client (configured as IS) on XI Box. Is there any suggestions/precautions in using that client for custom abap development or do we have to create one more client for all custom ABAP development.
