What is System Change Option Used For?

Former Member

Hi,

I need help on security.

we use scc4 settings for client protection. the settings are 'No changes allowed' for client-specific objects and 'No Changes to Repository and cross-client customizing objects' for cross-client object changes.

system change options are set to 'Modifiable'. what is the difference between these settings? Is there any situation that may cause problems?

thanks,

- ferudun

There is 3 level protection support and they are combined as per the client roles on the SAP.

Wht kind of conbination you are looking for,

Customing client- Allow modification with no changes to repository and no overwirting

ABAP client - No changes allowed, changes to rep allowed with no overwriting

sand box - changes with no recording, no changes to rep and overwirting allowed

unit test client - no changes allowed, no modification on rep and overwriting allowed

PRD client - no to all the security

QAS client same as PRD client

Cheers

we have 2 level security for data at system level and at client level

at client level we maintain if we have all clients in one systm i.e single or two system landscape

sytem level security is best for production system so that if we make any mistake at client level it will ristrict you at system level

we use scc4 options as mentioned above for productive systems. we don't use the system change option even for our productive systems. should we use it, why?

- thanks
