Can anyone please point me in the right direction on how do I -
Upgrade Oracle 9.2 from Standard edition to Enterprise Edition.

Deepak,
In Enterprise , Oracle Universal Installer installs a
preconfigured seed database, networking services, licensable Oracle Options,
database environment tools, the Oracle Enterprise Manager framework of
management tools, including Console, Management Server, and Intelligent
Agent, Oracle utilities, and online documentation. It also installs those products
most commonly used in data warehousing and transaction processing
environments.
Standard Edition: Oracle Universal Installer installs a
preconfigured seed database, networking services, Oracle Enterprise Manager
framework of management tools, including Console, Management Server, and
Intelligent Agent, and Oracle utilities.
So There will be some components will not be installed as a part of Inst.Which you can select again when u execute OUI it will first find installed components and missing components you can select from Custom installation. Then you will have all components installed by OUI.

Hi Vinod,
Thanx for the reply....
what I want to know most importantly is..... that I want to carry out an upgrade from Standard edition of Oracle 9.2.0.6 to the Enterprise edition.....of 9.2.0.6 and the SAP system is a live system.
Actually I would want to do this on all (DEV/QAS/PRD)..... therefore, I am worried about the existing database. would the upgrade do anything to the database.
Secondly, I would also want to do the same on my Portal system..... Is there anything to worry about at the Data level...... Is there any preparation that I need to do..... etc.
thanx
Deepak
Hi,
Diff between Stand and Ent edition is only some premium features.Which u can install as a part of installation through OUI.It will update Data Dictionary and some tables in DB.
At data level you will not loose nothing. Some extra binaries will be installed in bin Directory.
You can install seperate oracle home with Entrprise and run your DB with with this by setting Env variable.DB is Diffnt oracle Soft ware is Difnt.
For safer side shut down DB have cpmplete col dbackup and reconfigure your software and bring up DB.
Hope this will guide you through..

Vinod
Hi Ontrack,
first of all read note
740897 - Info about the Oracle license scope; required Oracle options
Running any SAP system on a non enterprise edition is not supported.
Since SAP did not deliver the standard edition to you, somebody has installed the SAP system wrong in your corp...
Because of the above, SAP does not provide a supported upgrade way, except a heterogenous system copy. Basically we did not test this scenario, because we don't support it.
Anyhow, Oracle has a way for this:
Metalink: How to Upgrade from Standard to Enterprise Edition
Doc ID: Note:117048.1
The core part of this note is:
The following steps need to be taken to convert your SE database to an EE:
1. Backup the database
2. De-install the SE software
3. Install the EE software
4. If you have an existing database, point your ORACLE_SID to this
pre-existing database
5. Startup the database
6. Run the "catalog.sql" and "catproc.sql" scripts, as usual.
Well, pretty easy isn't it?
