Hi,
You can see the list of adapters where you need manadtory Sender Agreements. If so , sender channel is required.
for this check this-
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/b1/f29e7a56e18a439984a3c6630951d2/content.htm
But in the latest Supports Packs, u can see, this option is enabled ( i think after SP16)

Priya,
As other posted mentioned you dont need to have a Sender communication channel if you are using IDocs as the mode of sending data. If you are using as receiver then you need it.
Check this documents where he has mentioned of how to use it and what are the settings need to be done:

Hi Priya,
We do not require to create sender agreement as the Idoc adapter sits on the ABAP stack of the Integration server, so the sender communication channel as well. but we have to create a acknowldgement channel i.e receiver channel. Please go through the How to Configure Idoc pdf.
Cheers,

Hi Priya,
the configuration step for the idoc sender adapter is made only in the abap stack of XI.
The configuration is made using transactions: IDX1 and IDX2.
Take a look to the following guides:

Hope this help
