Dear Gurus,
I am facing the following issue in my environment "ORA-12638: Credential retrieval failed", thus i have already applied the note 417561 after this the same issue occurs.
In addition to this i have followed the steps described in note 417561, and I tryed to
start listener and oracle service under <sid>adm but in few hours the issue occurs again.
I have upgraded the oracle version to 9.2.0.7.0, the last was 9.2.0.5.0. I wasted all the possibilities to solve this issue, but did not work.Follows my environment configuration.

Hi Igor,
Reason for the error:
-
The ORA-12638 error is caused when an SPFILE exists in the %ORACLE_HOME%\database folder and the Windows registry parameter 'ORA_<SID_NAME>_PFILE' exists as well.
how to resolve:
-
Confirm that a valid pfile does exist in the specified location and then decide which one to use to start up the database. If SPFILE is chosen, remove the 'ORA_<SID_NAME>_PFILE' parameter from the Windows registry or remove the SPFILE from the %ORACLE_HOME%\database folder.

Dear GURUS,
Follows SQLNET.ORA FILE.
SQLNET.ORA Network Configuration File: C:\oracle\D01\920\NETWORK\ADMIN\sqlnet.ora
Generated by Oracle configuration tools.
TCP.NODELAY = true
NAME.DEFAULT_ZONE = WORLD
NAMES.DEFAULT_DOMAIN = WORLD

SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS)
SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NONE)
NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (TNSNAMES)
Very Thanks

Hi Siddesh,
I have checked the notes that you mentioned and everything appear to me ok:

562403 - FAQ: Oracle Net
480266 - Problems with the SYSDBA/SYSOPER/INTERNAL connect

614036 - Composite 12638 notes
The last that I have applied was 417561 and I gave read permission to my qas machine in Pre-Windows 2000 Compatible Acces group.
PS: The issue still occurs at the same time at 18:00PM until 18:30PM, pls do you have another idea to help me with this issue????
Best Regards.
Igor

Hi Igor,
Please check this SAP Note:
Note 425828 - ORA-12638 credential retrieval failed (Windows 2000)
The above note talks about updating a DLL file, but maybe you have a higher version.
Check the following note to understand why the problem is occurring.
Note 614036 - Composite SAP Note: ORA-12631/ORA-12638
My suspicion is that someone changed the domain administrator password or maybe there are problems contacting the domain server, check your event logs for details.
Good luck!
Regards,
Siddhesh
