One more option is you can just put a square bracket like [ ] .

You can use the following in menu bar.
Insert->Characters->SAP symbols->SYM_CHECKBOX
But in second method you cannot see checkbox in print preview.Check out whether you are getting it in printer.
Hi,
Create a small window and under output options select frames and value of 15 tw. Make sure to select the Always print frame. Create a text box with X character and code if you would like to make change the value.
About the only solution I know of.
