Hi Ashish,
I think you are already aware about XI so as per my view you go thorugh about the information regarding Web Method that will aware you the difference between these two.
In general scenario Web Method is a public method that can be accessed from anywhere over the web or browser but in case of SAP it has some different meanings. Please go through the various links available on the below mentioned link:
<a href="http://www.webmethods.com/search?q=webmethods&spell=1&site=www_collection&output=xml_no_dtd&client=www_collection&access=p&proxystylesheet=www_collection&oe=utf8">Info about Web Methods</a>
Here you will find various links such as webMethods Blogs, webMethods for Compliance, webMethods for B2B, webMethods for SAP and many more in further pages.
I hope that this link will be helpful for you.

Hi,
webMethods increases ROI by adding real-time business metrics and dashboards to any SOA application with a few clicks of the mouse. In addition, webMethods is a standards-based, heterogeneous platform allowing you to save cost by leveraging your existing IT investments.
webMethods enables you to incorporate highly disparate infrastructures into a unified framework, lowering the complexity of building and maintaining SOA applications and infrastructures.
Thanks,
Krishna chaitanya.
