We are looking into implementing contract management within SRM or the backend. Based on everything I have read so far, SRM would be the best place. However, here are my questions:
1. What would the timeframe be to implement this?
2. We are on SRM 4.0. Would it be better to upgrade?
3. If I am somewhat knowledgeable of SRM, would it be necessary to bring in consultants to assist with the implementation?
4. Can contracts be copied over into the backend?
5. Other than SAP Help, are there other sources for documentation (especially any necessary configuration)?

Hello everybody,
I have got a problem in understanding SRM-Master Guide (by Nov. 9, 2006) and finding configuration guide for Contract Management Scenario.
On page 76 it says: "For information about configuration... see the configuration documentation for mySAP SRM in SAP Solution Manager.
Now I am in service.sap.com/srm searching all solution maps etc. In installation guides there are some files but I do not find anything concerning Contracts.
Anybody could help please?
We are on SRM Server 5.5.
Best regards,
Felix

1.The basic configuration should not take much time if you have SRM system implemented with other scenario in place. You have to decide some basis contract configuration on number range ,it's distribution and data available with you in system right now which you are looking to put in place and some changes in existing org plan.
2.There are some additional features available on contract management in new release but if you want to implement it fast, there is no issues with simple scenario in SRM 4.0.Upgrade is advisiable by SAP although.
3.You can try things in your own system and create some scnarios documents,if you have some technical people with you who have some knowledge to analyse the defects then it should be manageable but it totally depends on your skill sets.
4.Yes Local contract will stay in SRM system while global outline agreement can be passed into backend in R/3 system into backend.
5.You can look for SAP notes available on contract management process and some configuration and scenario documents are available on service market place of SAP.
