Hi,

I am new to WebDynpro.I created an application and tried to create view in application. In the layout of view i get the following error "While trying to retrieve the URL: http://eccserver2:8000/sap/bc/wdvd? ".

eccserver2 is the application server.I tried to resolve by adding the hostname in hosts file. But I still get the same error. Can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue.

Hi,

make sure you've made all the <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/43/e86de5008b4d9ae10000000a155369/frameset.htm">configuration settings</a> including FQDN.

Hi,

I tried from the link, but it doesn't work.Has it anything to do with the firewall or opening the port 8000?

I am using SAP from a paid network. He has provided only the hostname for the server.

Is there any solution for this?

You may have a firewall issue as well.

Rainer comments still apply as Fully qualified domain is required.

So post implementation steps are outstanding on the system.

Also the service must be enabled. See transaction SICF activate button.

To test the firewall you could tray and access the Host directly.

ie SERVERHoST.mycomp.com:8000

You should see an Error page returned by WAS server.

Not a browser error.

Hi Suganya,

yes, there is a solution, but it is not so easy. Please read https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BSP/Using+Proxies

There is the description how to setup the server in case of a proxy between server and browser. Don't bother that it is written for BSP. The same is valid for web Dynpro ABAP.

Hi,

read this blog <a href="/people/brian.mckellar/blog/2003/09/25/bsp-in-depth-fully-qualified-domain-names:///people/brian.mckellar/blog/2003/09/25/bsp-in-depth-fully-qualified-domain-names and maintain icm/host_name_full as described. You can also have a look at the online documentation and search for this profile parameter. There you will find the same info.

Rainer
