Upgrade ECC 5.0 to ECC 6.0

Hi,

Currently we have an R3 system running on ECC 5.0, meaning SAP_BASIS has release 640 we also have an CRM system running on (ECC 6.0?) SAP_BASIS 700. Now we want to use SAP Netweaver 2004s on both systems. As I read in previous formus this can not be done via hotpacks and we need to do a full upgrade. Does anyone has experience with this upgrade (in terms of time and changing functionallity)?

Thanks in advance,

Annemarie Vaessen

Hi Annemarie,

Have you explored the options in upgrading ECC 5.0 to ECC 6.0 i.e. to netweaver 2004s? We also require same, but no change in functional.

Thanks

Hi Bala,

That is exactly what I am looking for, possibility of using Netweaver 2004s without functional changes.

As an upgrade seemed to much work my company decided to install a separate box with J2EE server for 2004s and we will comunicate with RFC to all SAP boxes....

Hi Annemarie,

It is better to consult a upgrade specialist to caliculate the time required for the upgrade(depends on the strategy/scenarion you choose resource and downtime). There will be differnce in 2004 and 2004s.

All the best

Shyam.

Hi,

Which version of CRM do you have now? 2004s SAP_BASIS is on 700 and ECC6.0 also on SAP_BASIS 700.

For Upgrade you have two options

1)Down time minimized

2)Resource minimized

The strategy depends on your company strtegy/scenario

Also keep in mind that ECC6.0 is ( mandatory) Unicode release so this might have an impact on you database depending upon which DB you have

Hi Shyam,

I am getting a bit confused with all the versions, but this is the case:

CRM box is on 2004s and our logistic is on 2004. We want to start using Interactive forms and therefore you need to install ADS (= different for 2004 and 2004s). As we don't want to have two different SAP Netweaver environments we are investigating how much work it is to upgrade our logistics box. If the upgrade will cost 6 months and there are a lot of functional changes we will install the two different versions of ADS and two different SAP Netweaver environments, if the upgrade costs 1 month and not to many functional differences we will upgrade our logistics to 2004s.

Annemarie
