RFC connection problem from ECC 6.0 -> SOLMAN

Former Member

Hi All,

I am trying to create an RFC from ECC -> SOLMAN.

The RFC connection test just hangs for a long time and if i try stopping the transaction several times I get the following error:

ERROR: SAP gateway connection failed. Is SAP gateway started?

I have a similar RFC from R/3 4.7 -> SOLMAN ( same system ) and the connection works just fine. I have used the exact same parameters in both the connections.

Both the RFC users in SOLMAN are identical. I have checked the /etc/services and /etc/hosts file in both the systems ( ECC & SOLMAN) and I can see the sapgwxx and sapdpxx entries for both the systems and also entries in the hosts file.

Can some help me figure this out.

Thanks

Shabna

Hello Shabnam,

it can be and i guess this is what it is. We experience such issues very often and even though all the servers are in the same network (LAN/WAN).

Ensure you host file and SOLMAN host files have entries for each other.Further open all needed firewall ports (particularily standard SAP ports) in both the systems for each other. This should solve the issue for you .

Please award points accordingly.

Hello Shabnam,

Seems like a firewall issue. Ask your network team to check.

Tempoarily try this solution out.

In case RFC conenction from ECC to 4.7 is working and vice-versa is also true

Now goto RFC destination you have created in ECC for SOLMAN . In menu bar choose Destination then choose GATEWAY OPTIONS.

In the GATEWAY HOST give IP address details of 4.7 server and in gateway service give 32XX where XX is the system number of 4.7 system.

Meanwhile ask your network team to check.

Please award points for useful info.

Regards.

Ruchit.

Ruchit,

It worked but this cannot be a permanent fix right? Can there be a firewall issue even within the network?

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Thanks

Hi,

It looks, problem is OS level. You should be able to ping from one server to another.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I have tried it and all combinations, like giving full host name, Ip address, giving gateway host as short and long name as well as changing the gateway service to port number as well as keeping it sapgwxx.

Still stuck......

Thanks
