Can WAS 6.20 be upgraded to 6.40 on Enterprise R/3(47)

Hi,

We're on Enterprise R/3(47 with 620) and looking to implement new ESS based on Web Dynpro.

1. Does any one know if the 620 WAS can be upgraded to 640 without moving to <i>MySAP ERP 2004/2005</i> ?

2. Does any one upgraded just Java component of WebAS 6.20 to WebAS 6.40 Java? i.e. mix of WebAS 6.20 ABAP & WebAS 6.40 Java in Enterprise R/3!

Thanks,

- Suresh.

Hi Suresh,

In SAP Service Marketplace I found a note indicating that you can migrate the J2EE engine with SAP R/3 Enterprise (4.7) to SAP WebAS 6.40 Java.

You can only use SAP Web AS 6.20 ABAP with SAP R/3 4.7.

Please have a look at OSS Note 716046 for futher details.

Best regards,

Birgit

Hello Suresh,

1. when you look at http://service.sap.com/swdc -> Installations and Upgrades -> SAP Application Components -> SAP R/3 ENTERPRISE -> SAP R/3 ENTERPRISE 47X200 -> Upgrade -> OS -> DB I've found the CD 6.40 (U) Kernel. It looks like that SAP R/3 Enterprise 4.70X200 is avaliable aon Web AS 6.40.

2. What is also possible is to install a second server with the WebDynpro Runtime. Where would your WebDynpros run? Standalone? I think it's better running them in the Enterprise Portal. And for the Portal you rearly should install an own machine.

Regards
