Hi people

i need some information.

I have a Sap ecc 5.0 installed in two system. In the first system i do somo customizing. I must have the system with the same doc e tables. If i do the client copy not succes because of the different table of the two system (the table Z that i have inserted).

So i think the solution is about export DB and import in the other machine.

How i can resolve this problem?

How i can do the export of DB?

Thanks for the information

Hi

First thing while doing system copy it wont change any kernal setting

only you have take care about preDB and post DB steps

Just for info you can do offline system copy also by taking the dump of you last successful backup of the source system and the import into target system

Hi,

Let me explain the the two options shich we where discussing

1) System copy as per the document which i send.

Here we are doing it from the OS level,ie copying the datafiles and editing the control file on the trget system and rebuilding the system.

2) Export/Import

Its feature from the database level, which give you an option to do a full/partial export/import.

Export/Import will take long time when compared to system copy.

For a system refresh homogenous system copy is always the best practice, where as export/import will be usefull in case of partial copy.

if i do a db Export / Import of the system i copy also all the SP kernel etc?

No you don't need to copy SAP kernel in either case.

I explain better the situation

The system that i have implemented is a QAS system.

Now i have installed the PRO system and i want to replicate the QAS.

In the QAS i have installed a new kernel and all the SP

In PRO i have installed only the system but not the Kernel and SP.

I can do a system copy?

If i do it in PRO i copy also the SP and the Kernel?

In this situation what's the better way?

Thanks

Hi Massi,

Now before going for system copy please bring you QAS kernal upto date and also apply all SP then only u can do system copy

If you do not want to do all this thing just install you production system which same kernal version and SP which you have in QAS system and then only you system copy will be successful

Because whe nyou add any SP or update you Kernal it will update you database with new program and table

Here you are talking about 2 different excersie.

1) Kernal Update

Copy the latest SAP Kernel to the respective system.

2) System Copy

This will do the database refresh,Nothing has to be done for the SP,b'cause it gets updated along with the system copy.

Ok i have updated the Kernel. Now i don't want to installa all the SP, with a system copy the levele of sup pack is copied too or i must do it manually? I don't understand very much, i'm sorry.

The same about the language that i don't want to reinstall.

SP's will be updated along with the System Copy,ie after the system copy your target system SP level will be same as Source System.

sorry for confusing you

cherry say is true once you do system copy it will update you SP level

so no need to worry about SP just go for system copy but take care about predb and postdb steps
