In the namespace of the SWC, what is the use of Adapter objects section since we are not going to configure any adapters in IR right? I didnt get the idea of why we have adapter info and communication channel templates in IR rather than ID.

so from what I understood from all ur replies are, Adapter objects section in IR is mostly used for custom adapter objects, is it right? Also communication channel templates section also applies to custome adapter here?
Also, does it really make sense to create CC in IR? when do we really create CC in IR as compared to ID? any particular scenario where it makes sense to create CC in IR rather than ID?

it is a flexibility provided so that you can define all your configuration objects already in IR.
Take Rosettanet configuration for example. usually all the RNIF scenarios arwe configured via a integration scenario and since you have the option to have a CC template, it is prefered to define the template here. Note that all the other specific CC detials will be filled in ID only once the IS has generated all the configuration objects for you.
Hi,
As the name implies it is a template which you are defining for your communication channel in the IR.
It would make more sense when you create an Integration Scenario for your interface and use this to do the configurations in the Integration Directory, you would not need to create the communication channels again as you have already defined it in the IR. You might need to edit it in cases where you need to give the authorization details etc. You could create the CC templates for any of the adapters available and use it.

Hi Kalpana,
You can define configuration data needed for a certain type of adapter at design time.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/65/dfc755843b734992ce0d8f93f35178/frameset.htm
check for Adapter Objects.

Hi Kalpana,
You can also create your communication channel in IR by using the Adapter objects section.
But what i observed is if you are doing in IR,the cc doesnot have all the parameters which you can see those parameters in ID CC.
Pleae let me know for further clarification.
Thanks,
Sekhar

Hi Kalpana,
Although we configure the communication channel in ID , but the Adapter metadata needs to be imported in IR.
For the stanbdard adapters this is available readymade under the SWCV SAP_BASIS.
If you develop any custom adapter then before you use it is ID you need to import the metadata in IR.
Thanks and Regards,
Himadri

Communication channel templates can be created and used when you create integration scenarios. thus when you import the Intg. scenario in your configuration it automatically creates the adapters (Comm. Chn.) with what was defined in your template in IR
