DB2 Mainframe-XI connection

Hello,

I am wondering if XI can directly connect to a DB2 table on a mainframe environment? There may be a demand for this at my company and I would like to ensure functionality.

Hi,

Any DB2 database can be connected using JDBC Adapter.

Will the MF running put any security blocking to access DB2????

The option to ensure functionality is that, you can try to connect to DB2 using a standalone Java Program. If thats successful you can surely do that from XI.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, our mainframe does have security rules around it (ACF2, firewalls). Will this be a problem for the JDBC adapter?

Hi,

If you can ensure that the DB2 database access is open to XI ( the firewall should be open so that XI JDBC adapter can access the database and port ) then it should not be an issue!

Hi,

Existence of firewall may cause problem with access, but as i said earlier try connecting with a Java program if possible from the xi server.
