Hi,
Is it is possible to maintain the documents on a separate server instead of doing so in SAP. I understand, by default, in standard SAP, attachments are stored in SAP server only. However, if the volume is large, it better to use Data Management Systems. They allow to maintain documents on a different server. Am i correct? If i am wrong please correct.
Can anyone guide me in how to proceed about on this. Is ther any settings had to be done.
Please anyone guide me.
Thanks in advance,
Sailesh K

Hello Sailesh,
What you require is definitely possible. You can make use of content repository concept for this.
Check the link :
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005vp/helpdata/en/15/aea9375d79fb7de10000009b38f8cf/frameset.htm
and look for sub nodes Document Management Service and Content Management Service .This is for my SAP ERP 2005.
Please award points accordingly.

Hi Paresh,
Our requirment is as below:
1) when using functional transactions like FB03, MM01 etc.., for a document or material, there is a service object link available at the top right corner of the screen. You can add attachments, say PDF, xls, doc file.
2) So, when adding those files the files usually gets stored at SAP level, may be in the R3 Database.
3) But instead of storing these files in Database, it should be stored in a different server, or say a different machine.
Is this possible. How can we achieve this, may be by Document management system.
Thanks in advance,
Sailesh K
