Cannot start MaxDB 7.5 anymore...

Hi

I installed Netweaver Developer Workplace and everything went fine until yesterday evening.

I've tracked the error down to a failure in DB startup: After trying to put DB onlin the following error occurs:

-24895 shutdown of database occured

I haven't changed any passwords or settings.

What should I do to get the system running again?

Thanks.

Hi Markus,

could you please enter the newest 20 lines from file knldiag, from the Rundirectory (/sapdb/data/wrk/<SID>) of your MaxDB instance? Please search for the line with "current" in it and then copy and paste the 20 or so lines above that word into this thread.

Please also specify exactly which MaxDB version (incl. Build-nr.) you are using and which OS you're using.

Regards,

Roland

Hi Markus,

can you check if the mentioned file "C:\SAPDB\J2E\DB\pgm\liboms" exists on your system?

Roland

Hi Markus,

you told me the mentioned file is there.

Can you tell me if you've got the following file:

C:\<Windows>\System32\msvcr71.dll

The former file, liboms.dll, is depending on the existance of msvcr71.dll

Kind regards,

Roland

Hi Roland

I've also found this file. It is in version 7.10.3052.4

... seems to be a strange kind of problem...

Hi Markus,

I'm afraid we don't have a solution yet. A relevant developer asked me to inform you of the following:

one could possibly try the following command:

dumpbin /dependents liboms.dll

That should show exactly which DLLs are needed by liboms.dll. Afterwards, pleas check if all needed DLLs are found in the Path.

The dumpbin-tool is part of the MSDN toolkit, if I'm not mistaken.

Roland

Hi Roland

I used Dependency Walker to find some missing dlls...

I had to copy

- msvcr70.dll

- msjava.dll

to %windir%\system32 and now the DB starts again.

Thanks for the hint!

Best regards, Markus

Hi.

Thanks, this one just solved my problem. In my case, msvcrt71 and msvcrt70 were enough to finally start the DB.

Maic
