NW 2004S Linux TestDrive License

Former Member

I just installed the 2004s test drive on Linux (SuSE 10.1 and AMD-64). I run the "saplicense -get" command, paste the returned value into SAP's web page. Upon receipt of the email with the attached license, I install it as root.

However, I get an error message as shown below. Is there something else I need to do? I don't make any changes to the system between the time I run "saplicense -get", and install the license, so I don't understand what hardware could have changed during that time.

I also completely deleted and re-installed the entire installation, but that didn't help.

Thanks for any help.

$root rpm -Uvh saplicense_maxdb_N4S_7.00_20070303.noarch*.rpm

(probably your hardware key changed after license request)

error: install: %pre scriptlet failed (2), skipping saplicense-maxdb-7.00-20070303

Hello, all...

As someone who has struggled with this same problem (running Netware 2004s on SuSE10.1 on x86_64 architecture) and also managed to get my license installed, I'd like to provide the instruactions on what I did so that you all can consider whether it will fix your problems.

First of all, yes, I did indeed receive the RPM file containing the license, and yes, using RPM program to install it failed miserably. I even tried to force the installation of the RPM (as it only contains one single file), by forcing the RPM to bypass processing the scrips included in the package. Yes, that got the file installed, but no, that did not convince my SAP installation that it did indeed have the license.

So. What next? Well, I installed the license the 'old' way, that is, by running the command /usr/sap/N4S/SYS/exe/run/saplicense -install and answering the quesions with the information I got in the email from SAP Linuxlab with the RPM package. I mean the following information:

Your Hardware key : ABC123456

Your License Key : XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

License Expiration date: 99991231

SID : N4S

Installation-Nr. : DEMOSYSTEM

And presto! I got an SAP installation in which the SLICENSE transaction showed an operational license.

Best regards,

Heikki Karhunen

If you can not run license on linux screen , try to adjust rpm file name. If you still fail to do so just instal license manualy on SA GUI license menu.

Hi,

did you make the "saplicense -get" also as root?

Thanks for the response. No, per the instructions, I ran it as user "n4sadm".

<i>

As user n4sadm, download and install the license:

1. Get your hardware key by executing /usr/sap/N4S/SYS/exe/run/saplicense -get.

2. Request the license key for your TestDrive by entering your data in the section Evaluation on the SAP on Linux website. You should receive an e-mail shortly after sending the data with a license RPM package attached.

3. Start the Database.

4. Install the downloaded RPM package (rpm -Uhv <license>.rpm) as root.

</i>

Have you been able to run the 2004s Linux preview version? I've almost given up.

No i haven't done that yet. On my linux box runs the previous version 2004.

On the website there are only the following links.

http://www50.sap.com/linux/eval/nw4/ (i use this for my system)

http://www50.sap.com/linux/eval/si4/

http://www50.sap.com/linux/eval/was/

http://www50.sap.com/linux/eval/lnx/

Perhaps the link

http://www50.sap.com/linux/eval/nw4/ not work for 2004s.

Have you already looked/asked at

http://listserv.sap.com/mailman/listinfo/linux.general

for this problem?
