workprocess ending

hi guys

i installed sap r/3 4.7

some of the work processes are ending.

i checked trace file

its showing sql error

please help me

Hello,

I have the same problem in my production database since february 2007, and I have investigated a lot for this error.

for the instance I restart work processes which are ending to work.

the solution can be a reinstall of oracle component on the server.

I havent test this because I can't stop production server, but I project to do it at the end of the year.

Hi pavan,

You have upgraded kernel, you haven't changed the user environment of sidadm everything is okay.

So as I said earlier , the problem lies with listener or the oracle client.

Have you checked the listener.trc file, what you can do is , restart the listener and then try starting SAP again.

When you find the Work process ending again, stop the listener and then open the listener.trc.

The file should have some detail about what is going on.

Please note listener.trc and listener.log are two different files.

Hi pavan,

Has the SAP kernel changed recently ? if yes did you extact the sapdbexe.SAR file ?

If SAP kernel hasn't changed there could be two possibilities of this error:

1.Oracle Client library - Check if the Oracle client is installed properly or try re-installing the oracle client.

2.Oracle Listener. - Restart the listener and see the listener.trc (listener.log may not have much information) files for errors.

Also you can try doing this:

Login as <sid>adm

and in the command console window, execute the command : R3trans -d -v

later check the trans.log file in the same directory that you execute the command.

It should tell you something more or point you to specific error.

Also:

I tried the following command:<b>oerr ora 12547</b>

I got the following output:

12547, 00000, "TNS:lost contact"

// *Cause: Partner has unexpectedly gone away, usually during process

// startup.

// *Action: Investigate partner application for abnormal termination. On an

// Interchange, this can happen if the machine is overloaded.

Check if there are too much resources being used when SAP is starting up.

Resource is not a pblm..wat is happend is Listner cannt allocate oracle services to SAP workprocess..Just u Replace the kernel to latest patch level and try...Let me know the result of r3trans -d and tnsping sid

Oerr is an oracle executable, you can find more information about oerr on the internet

Pavan,

login to the SAP box as ora<sid> or <sid>adm, start the command console window using START->RUN->cmd.exe

And in the window give the command I mentioned in this fashion:

oerr ora <oracle_error_number>

in your case it would be

oerr ora 12547

On second thoughts, the oerr may not be available on Windows, but it is available in UNIX, infact its a shell script:
