Does NDS require a certain version of Oracle? I know you can use 9.2, but do you have to? and if not, what version is required?

Have you tryed installing SAP WAS during installation there are options depending on the database based on this you should have respctive database by defaule SAP gives you SAP DB.

Yes if you want oracle as DB you have to have oracle, chk with the installation guide.

The studio comes with an installation on top of MaxDB. But not the studio is running there but the server for local testing. The studio itself does not need any DB at all.

Any NetWeaver 04 (Java)Server can be connected by the studio and therefore any DB released for that server is possible.
