I am newbie to XI and am lost. I was just wondering if we need to create a new Business System for every Scenario?

If so what is the purpose of doing so? Just trying to understand the concept.

Thanks

Bala

Bala,

Not necessary. U can have one business system for all scenarios. But its recommended to create a business system for each application/backend/thirdparty xi is talking to so that it will avoid confusion. But technically u can get away with just one business system

Hai Bala,

A business system represents a specific system in system landscape and it also comprises information abt the outbound and inbound interfaces. It is recommended to create business system for each scenario or otherwise we can add the already existing business system to our scenario.

As michal told each business system points to the one system/application.

Cheers,

Prasanthi.

Hi,

From SAP Help:

Service Types in Use

Business System

If you want to address a particular business system as the sender or receiver of messages, choose this service type.

A business system is an actual application system in a system landscape. A business system (service) comprises information about the inbound and outbound interfaces and the software component versions of the business system.

You usually use business system services when configuring internal company processes.

Business Service

If you want to address an abstract business entity as the sender or receiver of messages, choose this service type.

Using a business service, you can define the technical or business subunits of the companies involved and then assign them the relevant interfaces.

You usually use business services when configuring cross-company processes. In this case, you only make your interfaces known to the business partners involved and either do not make any details about your own system landscape available, or only specific details.

For example, you can define RosettaNet Partner Interface Processes (PIPs) as business services.

Integration Process Service

If you want to address an integration process as the sender or receiver of messages, choose this service type.

At runtime, these integration processes are controlled by messages and can themselves send messages.

Hi,

no you create one business system per one system (per one r3 client for example)

and you can use it in all scenarios in directory

if you don't use R3 you can also create business

services (easier to create as only in directory)

generally you can use business services/systems

in as many scenarios as you wish and they point

to one system/application

Regards,

michal
