Hi Jennifer -

Michal et al have already answered this question but I'll jump in with my version:

1) Login to the Integration Repository, select your Software Component (SWC)

2) Ensure that the RadioButton stating "Import of RFC and IDoc Intefaces from SAP System Permitted" is selected. See:

https://weblogs.sdn.sap.com/weblogs/images/297/jen_lee_import_idoc.jpg

3) Once the radio button is selected you should be able to import the IDOC (ORDERS.ORDERS05) to your XI system. See:

https://weblogs.sdn.sap.com/weblogs/images/297/jen_lee_import_idoc2.jpg

This is fine for practicing the mechanics of importing <u>customer defined</u> IDOC's or RFC's to your XI system. However, the ORDERS.ORDERS05 IDOC is officially supported and provided in the <b>SAP APPL</b> SWC. Please see the section in my blog ( /people/james.guanzon/blog/2006/02/22/how-to-support-industry-standards-in-xi-part-i-of-iii--interfaces )entitled SAP Interfaces to get the correct SP for your XI system.

Thanks for reading...

Good Luck!

Hi Jennifer,

if you want to understand how to do IDOC scenarios with XI/PI

have a look at my book:

<a href="/people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2006/10/11/xi-new-book-mastering-idoc-business-scenarios-with-sap-xi"><b>Mastering IDoc Business Scenarios with SAP XI</b></a>

it contains all configuration with examples

(it even describes IDOC orders for creating sales orders generated

from purchases orders)

michal

Let me clarify:

I want to upload the idoc to do the exercise in

/people/james.guanzon/blog/2006/02/22/how-to-support-industry-standards-in-xi-part-i-of-iii--interfaces

Please have a look at the end of the exercise and it says:

<b>These are some of the interfaces in SP48 SAP APPL.

If you do have access to the Service MarketPlace, please get the XI CONTENT SAP APPL for SP48. Otherwise, just upload the ORDERS.ORDERS05 IDOC to your own SWC. (Note: there are quite a few blogs already that describe how to upload IDOCS from ERP to XI...)</b>

Please advise how to do it? Thanks a lot!

Hi,

1. just make your software component RFC/IDOC enabled (in integration repository)

2. upload the orders IDOC structure from there

like I said it's all described in my book too

Michael:

Thanks!

I checked integration repository (transfer from SLD->import SWCV),

there is no component called RFC or IDOC.

I am ordering your book but it takes a while. Could you explain a bit more?

Thanks a lot!

Hi,

>>>>I checked integration repository (transfer from SLD->import SWCV),

there is no component called RFC or IDOC.

open your software component (from repository)

and at the bottom you will find a tab

right click and IDOC/RFC menu will appear

btw

at first you need to make your software component

RFC/IDOC upload enabled by clicking and checking the correct check box

there's nothing more to explain

Michal:

I have got your book!

But I am a basis person without any ABAP/JAVA.

Is it smart for me to get into XI mapping/BPM?

Please advise. Best regards!

Not unless you want to change your career path. Design repository work is not something a Basis person will be doing.

Tim:

So can you direct me which direction to go?

Basis is too easy for me now. I want to update myself.

Thanks a lot!

Jenni,

may be you should go into BW/Portal/XI Administration but its better if you have some ABAP and Java/J2EE knowledge. So, first i would recommend you to learn some ABAP and Java then you can learn anything EP/BW/XI etc

I am a BI/Portal/XI administrator for the last 3 years. Actually

I have 7 years on BW. For admin, no ABAP is needed.

Please give more advice. Thanks!

well u already have good solid background as administrator. I dont recommend you learning BPM or mapping in XI. There is lot of demand for Basis with your skillset. I think you should stick to it. By the way whats your email ?

Ji Jennifer,

to use this idoc into an XI interface you have to:

- Create an idoc port using TCODE: IDX1

- Import the idoc type usin TCODE: IDX2

- Open the integration builder (Design) and under "Imported Object" of your Software component import the idoc metadata.

Here some documents (but for nw04...)

Hope this help
