proxies are adapter less communications then why we using XI adapter

In addition to other answers, It can be used for to communicate XI and the Partner Connectivity Kit etc.

Dimitry I guess that is a wrong notion...
We use XI adapter when the sending or recieving system is able to understand SAP XI message format.If you integrate SAP WAS >=6.20 it is able to enough to understand the XI message format without an conversion from SAP XI FORMAT to reciever or sender format.
We donot need a sender XI adapter as the message is pushed onto SAP XI(We need not know where it came from) but reciver adapter is required for routing the message to reciever like IP address , interface etc.
XI adapter is mainly used when communicating through proxies .Either JAVA or ABAP.But inside the implementation of the adapter you donot have any message format conversions.

When using ABAP Proxy you don't need communication channel, evn not a sender agreement,
The problem is there is not always a possibility to use such a proxy,
When you can't use proxies you should use XI adapters.
