Hello,
we have done some implementation with file conversion for file receiver.
Now a question is coming up.
We have added in datat types length details Min/Max , and white space = preserve.
But there was no effect to the file we got for the file receiver.
Can anybody explain for what use these details are?
regards
Dirk
Happy X-MAS for you and a successful new year!
Unfortunately you can change the payload just settings the details in the datatype, the datatype contains that just for future enanchement of XI and for custom developments (for instance validation of the payload).
You will archive the desidered changes in the message just with the mapping.

Hi Dirk,
The Details will come handy if u want to validate the incoming or Outgoing XML against XSD by means of additional Mapping program(XML Validation program), typically a java mapping program.
In those circumstances details, pattern, etc will come in to picture.
If u dont want to validate, then as Stefan suggested it would be a mere documentation.

Hi Dirk,
XI is always working internally with <b>strings</b>.
Adding specific attributes (length, type etc.) have no effects as XI is not validating the xsd.

The data type details are used in proxy generation. For all other adapters it is just a kind of documentation without impact on message processing.
