We have recently installed SAP and are up and running on ecc5.0. We now want to let our remote locations connect to our box. Our consultants are telling us its standard practice to NAT the IP to external and open the required ports, which we have done and now outside users can use SAPGUI to connect to our box. My question is this, is this OK, ie standard practice? I noticed SNC and encryption in the advanced tab of SAP Logon, but can't find any information on it, is it 3rd party?
Hi,
I think that would be only true if the outside people work with fixed IP addresses.
Personally, I would find things more secure when the the outside world access via a VPN and I've seen more people using that practice than via NAT rules.
