Hello SAP-World!

I know that it is possible to install R/3 4.6C direct on ORA 9.2...

Is it possible to install the 4.6C SR2 direct on 10g Platform under Windows 2003 Server?

The Problem is:

I have to migrate 4.6C Win. ORA 9.2 to another Hardware(64 BIT) and than to make an Upgrade to ECC 6.00. I cann not perform the Upgrade on the old Hardware.

The idea is:

1. Install the target system 'Windows 2003 Server X86_64' 4.6C on ORACLE 10g(64Bit).

2. Export Source DB

3. Import DB on the target system.

4. Perform an Upgrade.

The question is:

Has somebody an Expieriense on installation of 4.6C on ORA 10g ?

I will be very pleased for any information about it.

Best regards

Vladimir

hi, 10g (eg. ORACLE 10.2 64-BIT) is fully supported for 46c on Win2k3/ia64 (!!!), have a look at pam (product availability matrix)...46D_EXT kernel...

the following prerequisites must be met:

-> Minipatch 10.2.0.2.1 must be installed on top of patch set 10.2.0.2 as a minimum combination.

-> Oracle Enterprise Edition only

-> At least Oracle patchset 10.2.0.2 required.

-> At least Oracle client release 9.2.0.7 required.

you could also use the 32bit kernel 46D_EXT on WINDOWS SERVER 2003/X64 64BIT....

-> At least Oracle client release 9.2.0.7 required.

this is definitly wrong.

we are using Oracle10 Instant Client in this configuration which will be automatically installed by r3setup.

well this platform combination is one we can not directly explain in pam, because it is 32 Bit applications on 64 Bit Operating System and 64 Bit database.

That's what the PAM tells usr:

Freigaben R/3 Server Datenbank-Plattformen SAP KERNEL 4.6D_EXT 32-BIT ORACLE...

ORACLE 10.2 64-BIT WINDOWS SERVER 2003/X64 64BIT 17.07.2006 Freigegeben 17.07.2006 Freigegeben

clicking on the Exclamation Mark Symbol:

Minipatch 10.2.0.2.1 must be installed on top of patch set 10.2.0.2 as a minimum combination.

Oracle Enterprise Edition only

At least Oracle patchset 10.2.0.2 required.

At least Oracle client release 9.2.0.7 required.

Regarding installation please see SAP note 940794

At least Oracle Client release 9.2.0.7 does not exclude Oracle Client 10.

Note 940794 references note 976457 (Oracle 10g Support on Windows: 4.6D-Based SAP Systems). This one is relevant for 4.6 Installations for Oracle 10. In 950794 you will be asked to download an Oracle10 enabled Kernel CD including the necessary r3setup.exe installation modifications. This one will automatically ask for the Oracle Instant Client 10.2 and will install it.

OK, support is limited to the 46D extented support environment, but this was already the case to Oracle9.

regards

Peter

Hi Vladimir,

We are trying to do install 46c with oracle 10g directly but are running into trouble when r3setup is looking for the rdbms cd's. I'm just wondering if you edited the scripts to look for the 10g labels rather than the 9i.

Thanks in advance

did you follow note 976457 and use the kernel CD referenced there?
