While updating ABAP and BASIS SP from 8 to 10 the WP hangs

Hi all,

I have installed BI 7.0 on windows2003 with MaxDB 7.6. While updating ABAP and BASIS SPs from 7 to 10 in background, it took 2 days to complete. When i check the WPs status at OS level all my dialog processes are busy and i was not able to logon to system.

I faced similar situation before also.Can you please tell me where i am doing the wronge?

Is there any prerequisites before updating the support packs? Please help...

Hi,

Did you check the DB logs? If they are full then the system just hangs until there is space to write.

For scheduling the background jobs run RDDNEWPP in each client you have.

Hi,

there are few pre-req before applying support packages. among them in your case

u need to notice any standared background jobs running

and as you are trying to upgrade directly from SP8 to 10, it will take time.

try to upgrade one by one in dialog

and to spead up try to schedule RDDIMPDP job when ever you think particular job is consuming more time.
